At the beginning of the term the 7 final Tournament of Minds kids were chosen to go to Christchurch and we were given a booklet about our challenge and we chose the language and literature challenge called "Guest Who." For six weeks we were working towards this and all of us missed out on several subjects during this time. Apart from the long term challenge we had to practice our spontaneous challenge, for this we had four minutes to solve a problem we were given and we only had two days to practice this before going. When we arrived at St Andrew's (which is where we had to perform) we had to wait for 2 hours before our spontaneous challenge and during this time we played on the playground. When our spontaneous challenge was at 12pm we were given a challenge of a picture with a very colourful staircase in a very dull city and our description was 'staircases take us to many places, where do you think this one might lead?' We came up with the idea of a very angry and dull city to a peaceful and happy land. At 1pm we had our long term challenge and then we performed and after that we played more on the playground. Overall I thought it was an amazing experience especially since we won.
